At 3:45 AM CDT I am still seeing Wilma's direction maintaining at 260-270 range. Also seeing strong northeasterly upper level wind flow along with a lifting of the ridge to the west and northwest of Wilma , and the same ridge to the northeast sagging slightly southeast. The influence to the west to drive a north to northeast turn is still a day away. So, my prediction right now is for a 270-280 direction, maintaining same speed for 8-12 hours putting initial landfall on and across the central Yucatan peninsula, and emerging, weakened, into the Gulf of Mexico with a motion due north. After that depends upon the timing of the ridge moving in from the West. You saw it here first.

Storm surge from a hurricane coming from the West will mainly occur at and to the South of the eye. You will have offshore winds to the North of the eye, so no surge will occur there.

I'm guessing Everglades City through West Palm Beach.

It's going to clip Key West and head out towards the Atlantic without doing much damage to South Florida.

I see no reason to change my original. Still in at Venice, out at Satellite Beach.

I am guessing either extreme southwest Florida exiting near Broward or Dade counties, or passing over the Keys and missing mainland Florida entirely....
Of course, this is just a guess.....

With two fronts coming in and the second being the stronger, I would see it coming closer to the Tampa Bay area. It is all a timing issue now.

Consider this. Profiteers regulate the supply of scarce resources. If the price of gas is high enough geezers and recreational users wont buy it, and more gas is then available for business and workers. Ditto for motel rooms; if the price is high enough families will make do with one room instead of two. AND! if the price of scarce resources is high enough suppliers will flock to where the need is the greatest. Was it RICHARD IV who exclaimed "A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!" ?

I would also have to agree, they were talking about a Tampa strike on the radio this morning. They said it would be Saturday before they knew which areas would be affected.

All I know is this... if Jim Cantore shows up in my neighborhood again this year.. he's going to get his butt kicked ...LOL !!!.. I met him last year in TN right before Frances hit my neighborhood, we looked at the NHC path & advisories... He then assured me it would hit the keys & go into the gulf...I told him if I saw him in my neighborhood, he was going to HELP get the hurricane shutters up, then kick his butt... needless to say he showed up a few days later in my area... So If Cantore or Anderson Cooper shows up in your neighborhood a few days before any storm comes in...

I think that the models are way off, I see it coming up to Pensacola, but that's just a gut feeling like I had with Ivan

I am saying it hits south of Naples and exits north of Boca. I'm in Tampa and a little worried, not sure if we're gonna leave and if so when. YIKES!! I hate this!!
