nothing to post on. 97L lost its convection.. still discernible but probably on its way out. nothing interesting going on in the atlantic. eastpac hurricanes just going through the usual cycle: develop south of mexico, intensify and move west, weaken over colder water. nothing magical there.
anyhow i'm getting the sinking suspicion that rad is going to win laughing rights on august 1st.

pretty good wave crossing the atlantic right now. a chump in terms of convection, but the signature is quite good. it's got what was 97L plastered against its fender as it charges westward. in the immortal words of pink floyd: if you want to grow old, stay out of the road.
a few globals are hinting at high latitude development off the NE coast next week. not sure.. think that is a positive NAO summer signal showing up. either way, nothing but a fish spinner, if anything. it looks like the east coast trough is trying to camp just recently.. now isnt that a surprise. wondering when that strong teleconnecting ridge is going to show, the twin to the big one those typhoons in the westpac have been riding forever west.
we live in the age of fish spinners, hurricanes that weaken and go to north carolina and central america, and storms that cant stack. the coming age of more, greater hurricane strikes is often touted, but has anyone noticed that it never arrives? i don't know about you guys, but tell me the atlantic will throw 14 storms this year and i feel pretty safe.
