Interesting line of storms in Nebraska today
      #14539 - Sun May 23 2004 12:41 AM Attachment (215 downloads)

I saw this line of storms today in Nebraska and using Accuweather's new radar plus I was able to create this interesting image showing wind direction and storm information. Amazing how clear the contrasting wind directions are. Also I thought it was neat how the whole system looks like a tornado. A clueless co-worker thought this was taken horizontally and that the image was that of a tornado.

(see attachment...if only I could figure out how to show this inline I would :-) )

Hey Domino,

Pretty interesting pic, there. I've been thinking of getting the premium Accuweather for a while. Didn't really seem worth it just for Joe B's commentary, but it looks like some of the radar features are pretty schweet. Do you like it? Is it worth the $$$?

Well, I am still up in the air on the value of their new radar products - especially since it will be more than the pro account. I believe the same functionality may be available using stand-alone one time purchase programs. Good thing is they have been very willing to listen to suggestions and have personally responded to every single suggestion I've made.

Accuweather Premium
      #14724 - Mon May 31 2004 04:21 PM

Derek,

I think tomorrow I will "buy" their premium service. I suppose it will be worth it just for Joe B. alone; at least it's a 30-day "free" trial, so I could cancel if it is not up to snuff. Steve can't get enough of it.

Spike, no problem...if your parents let you, you should definitely try out (for one month for free) the Accuweather pro site. It's pretty schweet. About 1 billion different radars, and some pretty cool "real time" tracking stuff. Plus, Joe B. If you don't know who he is, PM Steve and he'll tell you.

We had some fairly serious t-storms here this afternoon (in fact, In jersey (2 counties over) there was a tornado (a real rare event up here), and I was on top of it like sh-- on the bottom of your shoe. Hang in there.

Actually, you want Accuweather PROFESSIONAL, not Premium, because you don't get Joe B. with Premium. Premium is $4.95/month and Pro is $14.95 (about 49 cents per day) and you can sign up on a month-to-month or yearly basis. It's worth it just for Joe B alone. If you don't know who he is, then you're really missing out...he explains the weather (especially hurricanes, but everything from floods to twisters to winter storms) in terms we can all understand. I've learned as much from watching and reading him as I have from any other source.

Here's a link to check it out...but don't get too excited, you need a credit card to sign up...they won't let you demo it until you've signed up (even though the first month is free).

Enjoy it if you can

Ok thanks man. I'll have to try and get that. It looks very useful in tracking storms and keeping on top of the weather thanks again.
