Tropical Storm Chaba
      #20573 - Thu Aug 19 2004 11:01 PM

Tropical Storm Chaba is a fairly average system in terms of size and overall specs. and it is forescast to track westward in the begining of the forecast period and the a more northerly track as the mid-level steering ridge recedes. This system has the possiblity to become very strong if the upper level low to the northeast strengthen's. This will increase outflow and may may make Chaba to become the 2nd supertyphoon of the year.

Chaba impacting Guam [Re: Keith234]
      #20639 - Sat Aug 21 2004 09:13 PM

Ty Chaba is currently impacting Guam and the Marianas right now, expected to potentially cross over the island chain in the next day or so.

NWS/Guam's radar is capturing the typhoon on it's long-range radar, as you can follow through this link:

http://weather.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p20-r/si.pgua.shtml

Pretty cool stuff, particularly considering radar observations of typhoons aren't all that common - or at least aren't readily available.
