Ivan and Central FLorida?!
      #24832 - Fri Sep 10 2004 01:45 PM

I know we are a little too far away still, but I have a question that i would love feedback for. I like in extreem northwest polk county- I have seen Frances upclose and a bush with Charley and now this Ivan is scarring me senseless. Can someone please tell me (beucase i am new to this area) from this latest projection if I SHOULD be concerned? I look around and see all these people boarding up windows and such? I have only been in florida 2 months but arent we far enough inland that this storm on the current track will barely graze me?

I was living almost 100 miles inland when hurricane Hugo came thru South Carolina in 1989. The storm was packing cat 3 winds even inland that far and spawned numerous tornadoes. So yes, you should be concerned.

Your neighbors can advise you what to do or contact your county emergency management or check your local newspaper for the hurricane guide and evacuation zones.
