Hurricane Linda (East Pacific)

I remeber tracking this storm but it's starting to fade my memory, does anyone have some info on this super-hurricane. Didn't it have sustained winds of 190 mph's or something like that? And wasn't it because of the El nino of 97'?

I just read it was the one that nearly hit CA but as a tropical storm as it lost some power..............some ridge popped up and rescued SoCal from a direct hit.................check with dani as she lived in Cali.

The storm wasn't a direct result of El Nino -- no tropical systems are, really -- but was one of the strongest Eastern Pacific storms of all time. The National Hurricane Center preliminary report offers a wealth of information: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/1997linda.html
