Lunar Eclipse
      #34142 - Wed Oct 27 2004 10:28 PM

Don't know how many are online right now, but we are undergoing a total lunar eclipse...(10:18 pm On Wednesday, October 27) which should last for another hour-2 hours. Once under full cover (very soon) the eclipsed satellite will take on an orange-reddish glow...a hallowe'en moon if you will. Anyone reading this NOW should take a peek!

Couldn't ask for better weather for viewing an eclipse. With the exception of it being warm and slighly hazy here in south MS. This is one of the longer eclipses that I remember.

Thanks to the GOM high pressures and clear skies. Unless you live near the GOM, where the heat has been breaking records for the last 10 days or so.

Haven't seen one of those for a few years. The workings of space are always interesting and often amazing. I would have had a look, but it happened here at 4:00am - a tad too early for me.

Good stuff bill...welcome to the boards! If you've just found the site, you will enjoy it and find it very handy during the season. If you've lurked, then you know what we're all about. If you have a free moment (or 10) go back and read thru the posts from August thru September (from the main thread)...you will find there are some VERY accurate forecasters on board; we even have 7 or eight resident mets to whom we all can turn for lifesaving advice. There are also a large number of people who are not mets, but might as well be.

Again, welcome aboard!
