Moon effecting our storm season

I understand the moon helps direct our currents. Do you think odd placement of the moon made this season so active?

The placement of the moon this year was perfectly normal, it is a natural oscillation that causes eclipses. It could possibly cause warmer then normal water directed toward the source region of the hurricanes (cape verde islands), that isn't out of the realm of possibilities but alas how come this normally doesn't happen when we have eclipses? I don't know, and it requires much more understanding of metrology and astronomy...good question!
