Did Hazel really move up the coast at 50 mph and hit toronto with Hurricane force gusts?

I found some info. Hazel went up the coast at 60mph. Toronto recored wind gusts of 110 mph. Hazel was feeding off a front for energy. She was a Cat 4 at sea before landfall.

hazel was sort of like the long island hurricane of '38 when you consider it's terminal path. kept fairly powerful while curving into a strong n-s oriented baroclinic system.

Sustained winds I read were 124 km/h (77 mph) - which would have made it a Category 1 hurricane still at that point. 45°20' (where it was officially downgraded to a tropical storm - finally!) would be about 120 miles north of Toronto in the Muskoka region.
There were Category 2 hurricane conditions as far north as western New York...
