Oil Impact from Katrina
      #51713 - Sun Aug 28 2005 08:23 PM

Concerning oil, the problem is not only crude supply but refining capacity. By one report, 30% of US refining capacity (already strained to the limit), 12 major refineries, is in the bullseye of this storm. However, both 500,000 barrels per day of domestic production and the only US terminal capable of handling the largest tankers and hence a lot of import capacity, are at risk.
