Do Relatives in Texas need to evacuate???
      #55720 - Wed Sep 21 2005 11:51 AM

Hi,

My Grams lives in Paris Texas, it's about 250 miles from the Houston coast, near the red river/louisianna boarder. I'm trying to figure out if we need to drive from FL to go evacuate her. What will the wind's be by the time the storm reaches her? I'm also worried about rain/flooding. Is there any way to determine how much rainfall she will recieve by the time the storm reaches her? Will tornado's be bad on the east side of the storm, that far inland? Any help/info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Edit - Here is a link where you can follow the suggested plan of action for that area and get a general feel for anticipated conditions.

My experience has always been to error on the side of caution.

you will probably have a hard time getting to Paris Texas through the s. Louisiana route (IH-10) due to the damage; normally tampa or orlando to houston is an approximate 18-20 hr trip; now; longer - if you're gonna drive, plan your rooute and haul ass as you've got little time left; you are probably better off finding someone else closer to evacuate her

Good Luck

Thank you. I think it's too late for me to get there, would be traveling with a 3 yr old and 7 week old, too many stops. Going to ask family in Michigan to go get her.

Paris, TX is pretty far inland. Unless they flood badly, they will probably be okay.
