Interesting Wave
      #68488 - Thu Jul 27 2006 07:46 PM

Active wave in the south-central Caribbean Sea (just north of Columbia) that may be worth an occasional glance. Shear is marginal for the next few days as the wave moves to the west or west northwest.

That feature south of Dominica is really interacting with the upper level low just north of Cuba...HOWEVER I am increasingly interested in what is trailing that in the islands now ... something there could develop IMO if the shear monster is relaxed...

That looked more interesting yesterday, but still worth watching.

I've been watching the Saharan Air Layer and its associated dust following the wave. If that reaches Florida and the Southern East coast, it's going to be a really uncomfortable first week of August.

SAL loop

The dust can also be seen in the vis sat loops.

It does seem that the strong NE or ENE winds coming off the Saharan region have relaxed in the last few days, though. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the season blossom, as it were.
