Types of radar and base reflectivity???
      #92633 - Sun May 27 2012 08:19 PM

I use wunderground.com wundermaps quite a bit. I was wondering about the types of NEXRAD radar and base reflectivity options on the wundermaps. Anyone know where I can read some background explanations about the mechanics/application of different types of NEXRAD and base reflectivity?

NEXRAD (WSR88-D & WSR-98D) is an 'S' band 10cm wavelength radar. There is actually a good Radar FAQ on the wunderground web site:

Radar FAQ

Technical radar documents are also available online using various search engines.
Cheers,
ED

Facepalm... I've seen that FAQ before, but I couldn't find the FAQ for some reason tonight. Much appreciated, Ed!
