Easterly Waves
      #93032 - Thu Jul 19 2012 11:03 AM

Surface wave over and south of the USVI is moving westward into a more favorable upper air environment. The wave has convection but no circulation is evident.

At 19/12Z a wave with an associated weak surface low was located over western Africa near 13N 8W. The wave has maintained itself quite well over the African continent for the past few days and should exit west Africa into the far eastern Atlantic late on Friday. Over the weekend the wave will encounter strong southwesterly windshear.

The remainder of the basin remains quiet.

What's coming off Africa [Re: Ed Dunham]

Will this be this years first real contender to:

1) Become a Hurricane in the Atlantic that forms by 35W
2) To have enough moxy to make it all the way across the pond.
It sure looks as if it will hit the Ocean with it's feet moving.
