Cape Verde Season
      #93053 - Tue Jul 31 2012 02:07 PM

With Invest 99L coming of off the Cape Verde, I was wondering what time of year the Cape Verde season normally starts? This seems a bit early to me, but I could be wrong.

Took a look at the forecast models. Consensus is that we'll have TS Ernesto in the Caribbean in the next 72 hours.

Most of the models do suggest we will have the E storm in a few days. It does look like conditions are favorable for development. Tomorrow is August 1st, seems to me to be right on time. We have had storms in the past develop much earlier off the CV. I would like to say Bertha from a couple years ago was in late June or early July. 99L looks like it has a very good chance to develop before the end of the week and is moving into warmer waters. The wave over Puerto Rico is worth watching. Might give us some more needed rainfall in S.Florida is a few days, but not much more than that. NHC has it at 0% chance of development in the next 48hrs.

Use this opportunity to update and ready your hurricane kits.
