I'm not actually sure about what that might be but from what it looks like is seems that as Camille intensified (very quickly) it didn't have time to shed it's outer rain bands fast enough, so what your seeing is the time it took to shed it's rain band. Another more logical theory, was that the clouds couldn't devlop in that area due to the subsiding of air because of the very strong convection. Hope That Helps
