At 22/12Z, Invest 90L was located in the central Atlantic at 21.3N 51.5W with sustained winds of 30 knots and a slow movement to the northwest. This small system is well organized and I'm a bit surprised that with 30 knot winds and satellite evidence of circulation that it has not yet been upgraded to Tropical Depression status. Windshear is light and SSTs are at 28C so some additional strengthening seems likely. The system should start to take a more northerly and then northeasterly direction over the next few days as a trough approaches from the northwest. This system has the potential to reach Tropical Storm status within the next 24 to 30 hours. ED
