DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paulette was located near latitude 22.7 North, longitude 50.9 West. Paulette is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next few days. Recently received satellite wind data indicate that the maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected through Friday. Gradual strengthening is expected to begin Friday night, and Paulette is forecast to become a hurricane this weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 991 mb (29.27 inches). SURF: Swells generated by Paulette are expected to reach portions of the Leeward Islands tonight and Friday and will continue to spread westward to portions of the Greater Antilles, Bahamas, Bermuda, and the southeastern United States into the weekend.
