DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Joyce was located near latitude 31.4 North, longitude 44.1 West. Joyce is moving toward the southeast near 6 mph (9 km/h). A turn toward the east is expected tonight, and a turn toward the northeast at a faster forward speed is expected on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected through Saturday. Joyce is then forecast to weaken to a depression by Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
