Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for portions of southern Arkansas. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Barry was located near latitude 39.8 North, longitude 89.2 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the east-northeast near 18 mph (30 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through Thursday. Maximum sustained winds are near 15 mph (30 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1010 mb (29.83 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Barry is expected to produce additional rain accumulations of 1 to 3 inches from portions of the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys into the northern Mid-Atlantic through Thursday. Isolated maximum totals exceeding 5 inches are possible across northern Mississippi. Significant and life-threatening flash flooding is ongoing across southern Arkansas from heavier rainfall earlier in the day. An additional 1 inch of rain is possible in this area into this evening.
