TD#6 Forms East of Caribbean

Tropical Depression Six has formed east of the Lesser Antilles, It is expected to move west Northwest. The official forecast makes it miss the Caribbean islands, but with a lot of doubt, so folks along the Caribbean should keep watch. (Especially NE Carib, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico)

Well now we have it! NHC finally classified our wave as a TD! Not before time either, and it is forecast to become Chris by tomoro evening. The forecast calls for him to pass close to the Northeastern Caribbean but if convrection does not flare up he may not make the turn more northward as soon as expected so he remains a threat and must be watched closely. I have issued an Extended Watch on my site for Guadeloupe north and east to Puerto Rico. But we will see what happens with it for the time being.
And we may have TD#7 soon too! The wave SW of the Cape Verde Islands is getting better organised and has a broad low level circulation (kind of like Beryl!). NHC say it may be 7 within 2 days, but again we will have to wait and see. Any way i must go. Will make comments later.

Hi guys (and girls)!!

I just wanted to say I really enjoy this site. You've done a great job keeping people informed! I live near Galveston and last year when Bret threatened us, I would always check in on what you had to say. It really helped alot. I look forward to reading more post this season! Keep up the good work and everyone stay safe!!

I agree wholeheartedly that this system is still a THREAT to the US mainland and I think it is still too early to tell what will happen with this system...the latest loops I looked at is VERY impressive, and I think it bears close watching...don't write it off yet. it could stall, the weather pattern could change,etc. Just keep a watchful eye to the east.

Hello All,
Satellite pictures continue to show TD#6 slowly getting better organized. A large area of convection is expanding to the northwest of the center. The problem right now is where exactly is the center located. Satellite pictures are not conclusive. If the center is under the area of thunderstorms then TD#6 could already be a T.S.. If the center is still on the edge of the convection then two things are taking place. First the center is further south than first thought and 2nd its still under some shear. I have looked at the latest colored satellite loop and I believe its on the southern edge moving more west than what has been reported at the 5am advisory. Until a visible satellite can be seen even the NHC is unsure as reported on there 5am discussion of its position. The area of convection has expanded greatly over the past few hours and I believe the center is starting to move under the southeastern edge of the convection. If this holds true I believe we will have Tropical Storm Chris at 11am and its center is going to be much further west than reported at 5am.. This concerns me greatly for the northeastern islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands for possible watches being posted also at 11am.. We will continue to watch the satellites and tune in at 11am for the official report.
We also are geting concerned with the strong tropical wave near 10n...32w. I do believe we will have another TD to watch by later today or tommorow and this one being so far south may be more of a problem for the carribean early next week. And here we go..hang on!!!!
